Advice for Test Takers

Tips on how to prepare

Before You Begin

It’s normal to feel a little nervous before taking an assessment. Knowing what to expect can help you feel more prepared. Before you start, make sure you:

  • Are well rested and able to focus
  • Have enough uninterrupted time to complete the assessment in one sitting
  • Are in a quiet space without distractions
  • Read the instructions and questions carefully
  • Answer honestly throughout the assessment

Before the assessment begins, you will also be asked to agree to an Honesty Statement. This helps set clear expectations and keeps the process fair for everyone.

Tips for Prevue Assessments

General Abilities Assessment

The General Abilities Assessment includes sections on words, numbers, and shapes. These sections are timed, so aim to answer as many questions as you can.

  • Start with the questions that feel easiest.
  • Work quickly, but carefully.
  • If you're unsure, make an educated guess and move on. There is no penalty for incorrect answers.
  • Keep an eye on the clock and use the full time available.

Interests and Personality Assessments

The Interests and Personality Assessments are not timed, but suggested time frames will appear during the assessment.

  • Go with the response that feels most accurate to you.
  • Try not to overthink your answers.
  • If a question feels unclear, choose the best answer and keep moving.

Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. The process is designed to be straightforward, and the best thing you can do is answer thoughtfully, honestly, and with confidence. Good luck!

Take practice tests

You can get familiar with some question types and prepare by taking a mini practice test.
